How to configure a Warning Tone - HAI Omnipro II

Hi guys -
I have what I think should be an obvious question.  When I have the alarm set and I enter the house I have my sensors set to Enter/Exit and I have a 30 second delay to enter the code.  However, I often forget to turn it off and then it alarms and the internal sounder blares.  My inlaw's have their alarm setup so that when they enter they get a beeping/chirp tone to remind them to turn it off.  I cant figure out how to make it so the sounder chirps vs alarms full volume.  Any best practices on this?

Bill,

I have two HAI OPII setups.  By default the console beep when going to the console to turn on or shut off the alarm.

I have never really shut this piece off.

I did look thru the OPII programming manual specfically relating to your question and didn't see an answer.

That said my consoles are all set up similiarly (legacy, Omnitouch 5.7 and Omnitouch 5.7e; beeping tones enabled.)

Are your consoles set up to beep with your zone exit and entrance piece?

Hmmm - this makes sense then.  However, I don't actually use the consoles much as I am primarily using Haiku on iPhones.  I have mine just in a back closet.  I wonder if I will jut have to suck it up and use 1-2 consoles for the beeping

I actually have a third OPII set up (neighbors in FL - not really mine) and they have accidentally shut off the beep on one of their two consoles and that has caused a similiar issue.

Is there a way to put a some sort of beeper connection to the OPII (aside from the alarm sounder or consoles?)

Or maybe just connect a speaker to your console in the back closet and install it by the exit door (s).  It would be easy to hide.

I wonder too if you could backfeed some sort of switch triggered by the console speaker and connect it up to a zone and use that with Haiku?

I did a quick look at the HAILogger application console window just now when enabling the alarm remotely via my office desktop listening to the beeps and watching the console logger.

Not sure if you can write an event/action on the panel that would be triggered by console beeps that you could utilize with Haiku.

Here I see a period of time which you can probably set up some sort of beeping with the Haiku program to start rignt after :
VERBOSE: AreaStatus: In House, Status: ARMING AWAY

and to stop right after:

VERBOSE: AreaStatus: In House, Status: AWAY

You need to have the console sounder enabled for the audible entry delay to work. This can be enable/disabled at the console and separately in PC access. To check the console press and hold 4 and the up arrow. Check that the sounder is enabled and press 4 and the up arrow to exit. Open PC Access and send the enable beeps command to all console. Now when you trip an entry zone when the system is armed you should here the warning tones.

I never really paid attention but noticed yesterday that the OmniTouch5.7e does beep just fine.  (the legacy consoles and Omnitouch 5.7's beep louder though - probably just the volume settings).

That said it must be part of the application that makes it beep or its using the enable or disable alarm trigger to start sounding.

So relating to haiku there should be some methodology to create the same beeping as the consoles?

If you can't hear your beepers then you can install a speaker and use the voice module to alert you.

Or you could wire in a small piezo buzzer close to the entry and control it via an output or relay controlled byt he board.

In Haiku you can also setup a Button to trigger and alert you.

I think the audible warning is the best though.

Haiku does have a mode where it can beep, however it has to be open for you to hear the beeps, so I'm not sure if this is what you are looking for. Its meant more for wall-mounting an iOS device running Haiku. To turn it on, launch Settings on the iOS device, tap Haiku then turn ON "Keypad Mode". Now Haiku will beep just like the keypads, as long as its open.

With HaikuHelper (running on a Mac) you can setup a push notification to be sent to your iOS devices as soon as you enter, you could send it as a "trouble" notification, which will cause a beeping sound to be played as well. This would work even if Haiku isn't running.

The haiku beep approach should work perfect.  I have helper and haiku and some spare iPhone 3's that I can mount :)  you guys rock, thanks!

Ok - so now I have a question.  I enabled the beeping on both Haiku and the Console.  Now it beeps as i would expect as it counts down from 30s entry delay.  However, it beeps whenever a motion goes off even when not armed?  I have PIR hard wired motions.  My alarm is set to OFF for both Areas.  When I walk across a motion it BEEPS.  Obviously since I am walking around the house at all times it is beeping constantly.    I have the entry PIR set to  SECURE 'Entry/Exit Zone' and the others set to Perimeter Zone.  They all cause beeping.

If you set the zone type to Away Int it won't beep. Otherwise under the Arming section turn off entry chime and perimeter chime. You could always add some program statements to have the console beep when a specific door is opened.
