How to register Homeseer HS3 Pro Trial (Linux Version on Mac)

There seems to be more Homeseer users here than on Homeseer's forums...

Background
I just downloaded and installed Homeseer HS3 (version 3.0.0.94 linux version on mac).  I followed the linux/mac install instructions and have it running but I have no idea how/where to register for the 30 day trial version or where/how to access the HomeSeer version on my mac.  I stubbled across this registration page (https://myhs.homeseer.com/Register) but it's asking for a license ID & password (which I don't have).

Questions
  1. On the mac, how to I access the HomeSeer UI?  I have apache running on port 80 already - I saw some screenshots of people using http://localhost but that's my apache server.
  2. How do I register for the 30 day trial using the Linux/Mac software?
Thanks!

Yup; you don't register the Homeseer 30 day trial; just run it and the clock starts to tick.

You have to change the port before running it if you are running Apache on Port 80.  Go to the Homeseer root directory / config / settings.ini file.

You will see the port number there as 80; change it to something else like 81 or 8888.  You register the license ID and password once you purchase it.

There are more Homeseer users on the Homeseer forum then on this forum; having said that the Homeseer forum sometimes is a bit zealously moderated.

Here I am playing with the HS3 Deeelite, HS3 Pro on Ubuntu 14.04 64 bit and HS3 Pro on Wintel 32 bit.  Fastest for me is the Ubuntu 14.04 64 bit.

Make sure you shut it down before restarting it.  The web server port increments if it runs more than once and changed the INI file.

Kill the Mono job to start it from scratch.

the gWebSvrPort was not listed in the settings.ini so I added it, restarted HS3, and still not luck.  I even killed apache and tomcat so that nothing was listening on port 80 and restarted HS3 (without the port specified) and no luck.  Is there a more recent binary - I'm using 3.0.0.94

Yup; something is up.

Start Homeseer 3 like this after killing whatever mono is running.

Looks like the registration stuff got the HS3 discombobulated.

Delete the directory and re untar it.  Don't register it; just run it.  Set the INI file configuration to gFirstTimeRun=False  before you start it to

Go to the setup pages and put in the time zone or location information, change the default password or disable the default user and put in yourself.

Start it and you should see this:

This way it doesn't take you to the registration stuff.

Type 'shutdown' to shutdown HomeSeer

I nuked the HomeSeer directory, untar'd the file again, tried everything you said with no luck.  I even downloaded the latest beta (3.0.0.125) and that doesn't work on my Mac OS.  My log file is similar to yours Pete but there's no mention of "Web Server" IP address nor the port number.  I disabled Apache & Tomcat and nothing is running on port 80...  Guess I'll dig up my old Windows box just so I can kick the tires on HomeSeer.

I would post a message here:

Running Homeseer 3 on a MAC

I am finding that Homeseer 3 runs faster in Linux than on Wintel.

I have one test computer touchscreen with MAC, Linux, Android and Wintel running on it.  I have not tested HS3 on the iOS yet and will do so in the next week.
