Premise HTTP Vs. HTTPS, Port 80 Vs. Port 86, Ugh.

Motorola Premise

I cannot seem to get my Premise server to serve pages using non-sercure HTTP via port 80. It goes to the main page, but will not go any further. I can click on links all I want and nothing works. Just stays on the Premise home page.

Using port 86 all is well. Using HTTPS secure works fine too. Premise is running on a Vista machine and everything else is working as expected.

Anyone have a clue where I should look? Has me baffled. I can live with it, just makes me nuts not knowing what's causing it

I haven't tinkered with Premise's web-server, or the Automation Browser, so the only thing I could think of is two web servers competing for port 80. If you disable Premise Server and access port 80, do you see anything?

That's the thing... No. Nothing there. With Premise running, I can get to the Home page and see all of the rooms, etc.. Just can't go any further.

But, I have to ask, if you're not using the browser, what are you using to access Premise?

I'm using the Premise Browser (i.e Automation Browser); I simply haven't tinkered with it's engine (yet) so I'm not familiar with its idiosyncracies (it works for me ... but you don't want to hear that).

Given that it works on Premise's alternate port (86), and using http and https, I assumed there must be some sort of conflict with another web service on port 80. Hmm, firewall settings? (... grasping at straws ...)

Thanks anyway.

I've tried all of the above. Firewall was not on to begin with. No other web services running. And since it actually calls up the start page on port 80, you'd think it would work. Oh well.

Since I have other ways to do it, it's not the end of the world.

I havent seen this one in a while, but if I recall, you may not have gotten the connector to load properly, or had the activex component blocked by the web browser. I had the problem when I tried to hit SYS from another location...it will load the page, but I cant remember exactly what the problem was, other than in those two areas.

Thanks Chuck. But I could never get past the main page on non-secure http port 80. With https it works exactly as expected.

The connector seemed to load properly when I used HTTPS. So I assumed that it was loaded already.

Well, again, it's working via HTTPS, so I haven't been too concerned.
