Installing a burglar alarm system

I am going to be doing some burglar alarm systems in the very near future. I need the basic set up for wiring door contacts etc..

does the high side goes to one screw terminal of the contact and the low side goes to the other? and where is the end of the line resistor get inserted into the mix? this is a 4 contact zone
