IR timer

If the result satisfies your goals, that's all that matters.

I'm an Engineer, in the business of providing creative solutions... so for me that's just too easy - especially since, with not much more effort or money (relative term), you could have a truly automated solution where the lift drops when the projector is on, and retracts after it's done cooling - without any additional thought or assumptions needed. But it did seem like I was pushing a bit outside your comfort zone.

Then again, last year I spent over $200 changing out the builder-provided dedicated christmas GFCI outlet out with a UPB outlet, which required changing the breaker to a GFCI breaker, and a UPB switch to control it... all for a circuit I use for 40 days out of the year... that's just me. But, on those 40 days, my lights look awesome from sunset 'till 10:30PM Sun-Thurs, and Sunset 'till Midnight Fri & Sat, and all night long Christmas and New Years - without me even thinking about it or worrying about the controls.

Yeah but you must have missed it when the lift is up the projector is turned off. I can't turn the projector on, to trigger the lift when it is up?

Ah - you'd mentioned it had that feature; not necessarily that you were using it.

Do you want to do anything more than just have it go up at 3:00AM if it's still down? If so, we can work with you - but if you're good with that, go for it.

You could still do the other half of the logic - where it goes up when it's done - just not the part where it automatically lowers as well. That'll remain a 2-step process unless you find unswitched power.

I have the ability to lower the device with an Xantech Ir controlled relay. That is what I use now and it works very well. The only problem is the contact is a toggle so it isn't specifically up or down. Maybe there is that option but I don't know I should re-consult the manual. Anyway I get it to lower easily BUT if it is down prior to starting an activity everything is out of sorts. So that is a big problem.
