LILA Bluetooth mesh door/windows sensors

I saw an complete security system at the Consumer Electronic Show in Las Vegas this year based on Bluetooth.

I'm not sold on Bluetooth as a reliable communication means between sensors with something critical like this, but that is MHO ;).

I find nothing wrong with existing wireless devices other than the battery.

Their estimate of "battery life of over 1 year for each Sensor" isn't too thrilling either.

Elk has the next best thing in my opinion but it is limited to only Elk panels. They need to get in gear with sensor types, though.

In a perfect world everything should be hardwired :horse:

Zigbee door and window sensors already exist, and are being made by a few companies, and they can last 5 years on a battery.

Bluetooth LE (low energy) was an afterthought by the Bluetooth people when they realized that Zigbee was going to take away much of their benefit. If you really get into the standard, it is not designed for an application like this. Zigbee was designed for it from the start.
