Looking for an 8 channel DVR

I have done some research into 8ch DVRs, and if you want D1 recording, mobile phone/pda support and at least ~7fps, you'll be paying AT LEAST around $700. The Vitek EH8 and the AP-2408 are the best choices in that budget range. If you are willing to drop the H.264 requirement, then something like the Vitek E8 might do the job, and is a tiny bit cheaper. I really would avoid buying a DVR which can't do the job, eventho it can be tempting with their much lower prices.

I looked around for the AP-2408 and couldn't find it? Is there a typo?

Looked round at the Vitek EH8, but couldn't find a place selling a Camera+DVR bundle on the web. Anyone know one?

How does a EH8 compare to Lorex device in this thread?

This is the AP-2408 unit I was talking about:

I really like the specs of the Vitek EH8, so I am going to order one, I'll be reviewing it very soon. The Lorex doesn't look too bad, but I was looking for a DVR which also supports both Windows Mobile and the iPhone platform, and it offers some other interesting features as well.

When you say that the Vitek EH8 supports windows Mobile and iPhone, does it have a separate app for these platforms or does it just use the browser that's available on these smartphones?

I'm not sure, but that's why I am ordering one, so I figure this out, and report back. I would be happy either way.

Found another cheap 8 channel, if the one I ordered from newegg dont work out I will order this one

Well the one from newegg was junk I am sending it back and I am trying this one (from newegg)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16881192119

Scratch Newegg, I found it for over 100$ less with free shipping at tiger direct
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/Se...&CatId=4445

it only cost me a 72 dollar restocking fee ( am going to call and raise some hell)

Well I have the Q-See set up and while it is not super it is better than the aposonic from newegg and most importantly I can access it with my iphone.

Yep, I ordered one, and should have it within the next few days (being shipped from CA, ground, so it takes a while).

I received the unit, and I'm VERY impressed with it. I just finished shooting HD video and took many high res photos for the review, I'll try to get it posted as soon as possible (still have to deal with 'real life' :/).

Haven't forgotten about the review, it's halfway done, but this 'real life' thing keeps interfering <_< Should be up in a few days.

AutomatedOutlet.com , he has the best price on them ($660, they retail for $1k, even less if you are a bonus club member).

Any word on that review?
I am considering ordering one from Martin tomorrow.

Would love to hear your feedback.

Thanks
Ty
