LP Gas Detector

It seems to me like there ought to be a thread on this already, but I've just spent a half hour doing searches and didn't come up with anything... Is there an LP gas detector that I can use with my OPII? Obviously, it needs to be something that takes 12V power and has relay contacts. So far, all I've come up with are line-powered consumer units that just sound a beeper, and units intended to be installed in RVs.

Actually I think some of those RV detectors might be perfect. They obviously run off 12v so you are good there. I know some of them have relay contacts to provide some method of turning the gas off automatically. I would think you could leverage those contacts to provide a connection to the OPII.

Something like this fits the bill although you might want to find a better form factor. It looks like that one is designed to be recessed in a cabinet.

EDIT - Or how about something like this?

I installed the Macurco LP gas detector in my furnace room, but don't have a lot of confidence that it will do much good. The propane water heater is right there also and if there's a gas leak it's bound to light the gas before the alarm system can do much in the way of alerting me.

Hmm. The Safe-T-Alert 70-742-R looks promising. I don't really need the CO detection functionality in the space where it's going (an unheated utility room), but it certainly doesn't hurt. The only problem is, I have yet to find an online vendor who carries that specific model number; lots of places have the ordinary 70-742, but only the -R variant has the zone relay.

The Macurco GS-1S is available at a reasonable price and should get the job done. Only thing I don't like about it is that there is no built-in test and no trouble indicator. The GD-1D does have a trouble relay, which I presume means it has built-in test, but it's more than double the price. And I'm not totally certain about its functioning reliably in a damp unheated space, since it appears to be designed for hospital use.
