M1G "Control Startup" messages

I was looking at the M1G log via ElkRMS to try to diagnose a problem, and I saw that there are a number of "Control Startup" messages in it. There are a total of 20 since the first of the month. I have restarted it a few times this month while doing some testing, but nowhere near that many times. The only other messages are from using Elk RP. There's no rhyme or reason that I can see. Random times. Random days. Sometimes several times a day, including two times today. Sometimes several days without the message.

I do have a few expanders that have been disconnected for a few weeks, but have not been un-enrolled. I also have the CQC M1G driver connected most of the time.

So what is this message really trying to tell me?

Thanks,
Ira

I just did a manual restart. I got five "Control Startup" messages, followed by a "Lost Communications" message for each of the three expansion boards that are enrolled but disconnected. I think I have a total of five enrolled and connected expansion boards, so is that what the "Control Startup" messages are for? I also got a bunch of voice announcements during the manual restart that I have not heard during the unexplained "Control Startup" messages.

I also noticed that at the same time as one of the earlier "Control Startup" messages today, I got an M1G email telling me that a zone had tripped, even though I'm pretty sure it didn't trip.

Anything I can trap with a rule to see what is causing this?

Thanks,
Ira

If a remote input expander watchdog resets, there will be a startup message for that expander. An expander can reset for many reasons but generally the reset is due to a communication issue on the RS485 data bus. Should the expander loose communication with the M1, the expander will issue a reset.

Check the data bus errors in menu 8 on the keypad and see if you are getting more than 1 error a minute. If so, the data bus wiring may need some attention.

If an input expander goes missing and burglar defined zones are on that input expander, the zones will be violated.

When I check for databus errors, it shows "T1A1 00000" for a few seconds, then shows "T2A8 00042" from then on. T2A8 is a M1XIN located in my attached garage. Two zones are water alarms, one is burglar entry/exit (overhead garage door), and the others are all disabled. I have rules that announce the state of the garage door whenever it changes, and I never hear any unexpected announcements.

It's been about 20 hours since I last restarted the M1G, so that's about one error every 30 minutes. Should I be concerned?

T2A8 is located in a remote can in my attached garage. It is connected to a DBH, which is connected to another DBH in the main can next to the M1G. I have a third DBH in my shop that is chained to the one in my attached garage. Is the shop DBH and it's expansion cards likely to have problems as a result of the errors seen for T2A8?

Is there some way to display databus errors for the other expansion cards and keypad, or does it mean that there aren't any since only T1A1 and T2A8 are being shown?

Thanks,
Ira

The keypad displays the latest error, in your case T2A8 or Type 2(input expander) data bus address 8.

If you are only getting an error every 30 minutes, the data bus is very sound. A data bus error count increment on the keypad display occurs when the M1 queries a device on the data bus and has to retry the query to get a response.

If you have bus devices enrolled, but disconnected from the bus, do a bus enrollment to take out the disconnected devices. The M1 is trying to find those lost devices in every way possible.
