M1G Z-wave or UPB status feedback

Oh man...not what I wanted to hear. What's the point of the UPB integration?
Elk must be working on something else that's keeping them busy, it's not like them to half a$$ it.

According to the UDI forums, the UPB support will be out fairly soon. You will need the PIP-TS from PulseWorx to integrate the ISY99 with your powerline.
Gents, I'm new to all this, so I apologize if I'm missing something obvious, but I'm really stuck trying to decide between an Elk M1G and an HAI Omni IIe.
If I understand the stuff I'm reading right now correctly, you're saying that, even with the new UPB PIM they've come out with, an Elk M1G can't actually read the status of various lights and switches? i.e., if M1G turns the exterior lights off, but I turn a couple back on manually, it won't know that?
Also, if I understand, the HAI systems WILL detect that change?
I apologize if I'm oversimplifying, but every time I try to find differences between the systems, they come up dead equal, and to me this would be a significant difference. My plan was to use UPB to control a number of lights inside and outside the house.
While I'm at it, does the Omni IIe have UPB control built in, or do you still have to install their UPB PIM via a serial connection? I know this is the Elk forum, but there seems to be a lot of cross sharing of knowledge on here. THANKS!!

The UPB ISY should keep the ELK status correct in regards to the UPB lignting. That is what the Insteon ISY does and does very well. The fact that UDI, PCS, ELK and others will all be tied together should make almost limitless possibilities with your automation.
I am dying to get my hands on one. The only complaint I have with my present HA setup is that the UPB status is not correct in the ELK and thus in eKeypad. This will not only address that but also open up a lot of other fun posibilities.
Yes the HAI will track status of the UPB devices (I have not used it personally so I dont know if there are any quirks) while currently the ELK does not. The ELK does know if it turns a UPB device on or off and if you turn a light on or off manually but not if its done with a link. The UDI UPB version of the ISY will be the lighting controller that plays well with the ELK and keeps the ELK up to date and still allow the ELK to control lights.
This is a win/win situation for ELK, UPB manufacturers, UDI and everyone that uses UPB (ELK used or not) in my opinion.
PCS was smart to partner with UDI for this device given UDI's proven track record.
