Mobile Wii?

We just bought the kids a Wii (they still think their deprived, since they are the last ones on the planet to own one). We are going on a long road trip. I was wondering if there was any reason we couldn't use it in the minvan, with an invertor and plugged into the vans dvd player? Also, can you make a back up copies of the Wii disks with a dvd program like Nero? They have manged to destroy many dvds in the past.

Thanks for the help! Now I'm being told that I have to buy them Nintendo DS games for the car, I think one game system is plenty.....

I would think as long as you don't exceed the power output of your inverter and your DVD player has the proper inputs, you would be okay.

Afterdawn.com and cdfreaks.com forums should have what you need in regards to backing up your Wii games. I personally haven't done it or looked into it in a long time. Best of luck

I can't wait to hear how they were playing tennis in the car! ;) Just make sure the wrist straps are on tight!

Video games in cars are nothing new; as long as you have inputs and appropriate power inverters.

There are two things though that make the Wii different... the need for the LED bar (I'd suggest a wireless one with the double-sided tape and stuck to the screen (I'm thinking flip-down TV with the bar stuck to the bottom of the screen).

The second concern would be what sacedog hinted to - room to move. But, I'm sure you can make due. After a few drinks I always test how little movement is needed to make it work.

I love watching my 8 yo lie on the couch doing wii fit running. She just shakes the controller trying to pass the lead runner. Pretty ironic.

Any of the Lego games are quite a lot of fun (my wife and I play it together) and don't require many or any of the usual flailing of the controller.

How about if you are caravaning with another car. The bluetooth would probably work between cars (certainly if they were next to each other). 4 person tennis with 2 players in each car!

Of course one team will be at a severe disadvantage since they wouldn't be able to see the screen very well. Maybe one could use a dual screen setup and have one screen facing outside so the other players could see it.

I realize this isn't very practical, but it would be pretty neat for the first 10 seconds or so. Then you could atleast say you've done it. :)

Well you could get a wireless video sender and split the signal and try that.... but if you drove too far apart someone would loose!

Still a cool idea tho

Ive heard of people having problems using wiimotes in a moving vehicle, though I think that was someone trying to control a car with a wiimote. Might be something you want to check out before the kids start yelling everytime you accelerate or turn.

The problem is the sensor bar will take in too much light. Glares or direct sunlight makes it squirly. And i know youre thinking that theres a big roof, etc, but I cant play my damn wii with the lights on in the house over it when the suns setting in my se window (shades closed) its just a pain in my ass.

However, you should be fine if theyre playing games that require no aiming at all (even during menu options etc).
