Monoprice as source?

So while shopping for wire, I came across monoprice. I was quite surprised with their cat-5E price - like $45/1000ft for UTP. Is this okay to use? Also their 16/4 speaker cable was cheap - anyone use this?

I hate to cheap out on wire but I hate to pay more than I have too. All the monoprice prices are quite good - what I am looking for is a review.

My review for monoprice.com in GENERAL is it's freakin' awesome, especially when it comes time to buy connectors and terminators (though stay away from their "toolless" cat6/cat5 keystones..."useless" is more like it). I know others here have bought their wire, so they can vouch for it. I bought a very small spool of speaker cable for making patch cords...works great!

Otherwise, one of the nicest thing is that what you pay in shipping...is what you actually see on the box. No ridiculously inflated prices to make up costs.

monoprice.com...

Do you have a link? Monoprice.com does have a great reputation, but I have noticed some differences between the Cat5E geeks.com usually sells, and the higher priced stuff you buy at GrayBar etc. $45 is REALLY cheap, assuming they don't charge $45 s/h.

I bought from monoprice (2 boxes of cat5, 1 box of cat6 and 2 boxes of RG6QS) no problems with it.

Should be about $20 shipper or so per item.

If somebody has some 16/4 speaker wire, i need about 50' or so and don't want to pay the rediculous price home depot and Lowe's want ($50 for 100') and don't need a huge roll.

My experience is mid-quality merchandise for a bargain price. If you are looking for high end audio/video stuff, you'll need to look elsewhere, although I can't tell the difference between high-end and mid-range, but apparently some people can.

I bought 9000ft of cat5e from them, lots of 16/4 and 14/2 speaker wire, 1000ft of RG6 QS.

All the wiring is in, none has been tested or terminated.

I can say that the 1000ft boxes of cat5e were easy to use, fed out the cable easily and conveniently, very rare for it to get bound up. The guys I hired to run some wiring supplied 2 more boxes of cat5e (Honeywell and some other brand) and I could not tell the difference between those brands and the Monoprice, at least outwardly. That cat5e and the speaker wire appear and feel solid, well made.

I have bought numerous items from monoprice. Cable, HDMI jacks, TV mounts. All have worked well. I like their shipping policies and their prices. I don't buy cables anywhere else if I can avoid it.

The only thing I have bad to say about Monoprice is I wish they had an east coast warehouse to ship from!

+1

I've bought so much from them that I have a volume discount! - I'm not in the business, this is just for either my set up or my parents set up which I have been assisting them with.

Nothing but good things to say about them. Well, I wish the shipping costs where less for their TV wall mounts, but even with shipping, they are probably 1/2 to 1/3 the price of what a big box tries to sell wall mounts for. (It's understandable that a 30lb wall mount will be expensive to ship).

I have also used monoprice for mainly cable and it works great. Just bought a projector ceiling mount for them that I will install in the next week or two, so we'll see how that type of hardware works. They definitely have nice prices!

Hi,

Been using monoprice for a while now.
I have not had any issues with anything from there and the pricing is great!

As always - shop around but I do many through their site.

epinions.com is a great tool for pricing options..

I also buy cables from Monoprice.com! I once bought 2 of 10' HDMI cables and it came up to be about $11-$12 (couldn't remember). I bought some other cables in there, too.
