Motion Detector

Hi everybody,
 
I recently installed motion detector that shouldn’t detect animals. Today for the first time I armed my ELK M1 in away mode and 1 hour after I left my house I received an alert on my cell phone indicating one of the motion detectors initiated an alarm.
 
How do I know if this is a bad installation or defective module?
 
The model I installed is “Next dual K9-85 from Visonic”

Can animals get up on things and get close to the detector?  If the animal is closer it covers a bigger portion of the sensors view and may trigger the sensor.  Do you have more than one animal?  If they are both running around in the sensor area they may be more than the sensor will ignore.

I only have 1 dog and the sensor installed about 7 1/2 feet from the ground. No way he got close

When I review the log I see that the motion detector triggered burglar alarm, the rule to call me cell phone was sucessful and not even one minute front the Alarm being triggered it was restored. Earlier that day the power in my area was out and during the alarm the power was still out dont think that has anything to do with it

Is it possible that the wiring is wrong?
