Motion sensor mounting

I am looking at mounting some motion sensors in my house. I was looking at the Bosch Blue line ISMBLP1P or the Aurora ADEMCO PIR motion sensor based on suggestions from other threads. Do I need to buy special mounting hardware to mount this? I have attic right above the room so I was planning on pulling wires down from the ceiling right next to a wall and mounting it against the wall at ceiling level. Is this going to work or should i just get ceiling mounted motion sensors? Are there any good ceiling mounted motion sensors you would suggest?

I just pull the wire through the back of the sensor, and then screw it to the wall and pop the cover on. You don't need any special hardware for it.

I also have them mounted outside. I used the microwave/PIR combo units, snapped the lens and other stuff out of the cover, put some silicone around the edges where the lens meets the body and where the light pipe meets the body, and snapped it back in. When I mount it to the wall, I put a dob of silicone around where the wire enters, and where the screws go through, drop a small pack of silica gel inside, snap the cover on, and wrap the outside seam with weatherproof clear tape.

It's a whole lot cheaper than spending the money for one that's made to be weatherproof. No problems so far, even with one that gets pelted directly by rain.

I drilled a small hole in the bottom right of the cover of a 32ohm Elk 1-gang speaker, pulled the wire through there. I then used one of the speaker cover's screws to secure the PIR. I have 8 of these throughout my house, all located near the ceiling as pictured below. Of note, we do not have a pet, so I was able to remove the little plastic cover to increase the sensitivity of the PIRs in the "look down" window.

One cat5e to these locations 4 conductors to the PIR, 4 more to the Elk speaker (doubled up conductors for +/- speaker).
