My Nextel i760 Phone

smee,

like Rupp and Squintz, I have been following this thread also. I really like what skibum has done with his, and I've read almost all the posts at accutracking.

One question I have, with the i415, could it be coupled with a laptop or pda for internet access also?

I'm going by Target and/or Best Buy tomorrow to see if they have the Boost i415.

Would only use it for tracking and/or pda internet acess as I'm very happy with my Verizon phone and service.

I do not know but I would guess that the answer is no. I do not remember seeing anything on the Boost website talking about data capabilities (the phone has it (I think), but I don't think Boost provides the service).

I wish other cellphone companys supported this, I have a Alltel, Verison, and Cellular One. All have digital service out here but not the Nextel service. Oh well soon enough. You guys fix all the bugs then I'll be farther up the learning curve ;)

i415 works well with Accutracking, Mologogo and Opera-mini. This has to be the best value in phones/services by far. You can buy $20 refill cards on eBay for $16, bringing the monthly cost to a little more than $5/month.

Yep,

Got my i415 software loaded and started tracking myself on Christmas eve. (after my first attempt failed - thanks to Skibum we determined my software download got corrupted, reloaded and everything was great)

Thanks again Ski

I have to ask, were you in an airplane or something? :(

How long are the intervals before it updates?

No, no airplane

It was set to update it's location every two minutes, and on short local streets, it plots from each fix - so it kinda looked liked I was going cross country.

Last weekend, on my long trip, it tracked right on the interstate map the whole time.

Edit, When I first set it up, I held it in my hand as I drove, using my thumb to continually push the send button, especially at each intersection. The track exactly followed the streets then, due to so many more postion fixes.

Opera Mini on the Boost i415 is amazing--it's very FAST and renders perfectly.

I am betting that it can easily render most Home Automation web interfaces (I'm not currently running any HA software, so I can't test--should have HAL beta up and running soon to test, though).

For $6/month (for unlimited data), you can have a Home Automation cellular wireless controller that is also a:

wireless web browser
gps
cell phone
email client
location tracking device
etc.

**does anyone know what the data speeds on Nextel/Boost are--seems much faster than T-Mobile?
