Apple is rumored to have a new Apple TV in the works that will do 1080P and run the iPhone 4 OS. This could be another game changer from Apple if true.

Yes. I think some of the older iPhones (cant remember which ones) won't have all features available but multitasking is one of the new features.

Only partially. Apps will be able to run some services in the background while another app is running. They may not have full functionality, there are limits on the kinds of things they can do. Might be good enough for HA though.
