New board to old space

I am in the process of updating my HAI Omni Pro II legacy board to a new (used) board with flash ROM. This following is what I plan to do unless suggested otherwise:

1 - remove power adapter / battery
2 - remove 16 port expansion board leaving wires intact.
3 - remove main board leaving wires intact.
4 - install new board underneath old board
5 - move wires one by one. (actually maybe entire terminal strip)

Is there a "suggested" methodology easier than what I am thinking of doing?

Your steps are what would be the normal course of action. The one thing I would add is that the terminal strips (4) actually snap in/out, so you should be able to leave all your wiring intact.

Yes initially started the wiring very "neatly" then kept trying but with one expansion board (now full) and the rest of the adds its looking a bit cluttered. Will take my time.

What is the methodology utilized to snap in / out the terminal strips? Just put a small screwdriver underneath or pull the entire terminal strip from the top?
