New SageTV Extender "SageTV HD Theater "

That and that intro menu, I'm thinking the USB port is now functional and it can read data sources from it.

I'm not really tring to do anything but pass the word.

This is the menu I am talking about.

I dunno what to make of that really, even some of the items interest me.

Opus4 just posted this on the SageTV forums:

BTW, in case the info page isn't clear (I haven't studied the page): it can work in stand-alone mode to play media it finds on your local network or on a local USB drive connected to the device, without connecting to SageTV server. Or, it can work in the way everyone is familiar with, where it acts as an extender connected to a SageTV server.

Before you ask, I dunno about that menu capture, absolutely nothing about it. :P

So this looks to be about half the size of the old HD Extender! Awesome!! I'm in for one :) Does anyone know if I can upgrade the firmware on my old HD extender so I can use the USB port?

Does it have support for HDMI 1.3? In Dan's post it said it does but I don't see that mentioned anywhere in the Sage forums.. I ordered one anyway though. :)

Obviously the big changes are the stand alone feature (ie it works as a media player without SageTV), and the USB port being functional. Although it hasn't been confirmed yet, it is also widely believed that there was a hardware chip improvement to make things faster and to be able to support the USB port. It remains to be seen whether a simple firmware update will be able to make these items work on the older HD-100. I suspect it won't be that simple due to the potential chip change.

I guess my HD-100 just dropped in value overnight. I probably could have sold it for nearly $200 yesterday. Today I would be getting a lot less :)

Not sure how they have in stock, but my order is in for 2.

No time to consult the wife on the purchase...i'm sure i'll be in trouble... :)

Or just put it in the display case next to your 1st gen iPhone, and other early-adopter products you may have. :P

Looks like my laziness and lack of money have finally paid off for me on this HD extender.

Once they sell these out (who knows..that coudl be today)....you may still be able to get rid of your HD100. It doesnt seem like the changes in features are earth shattering and the HD100 was still and awesome device.

It's been probably 4-6 months that they havent had the HD100 in stock...if that happens again for the HD200 you can sell it for sure..

I got 2 just in case...

I got my 2 last night...I was shocked when I saw them. I just popped on to see if there were any news on the release date and there they were. Good news is I warned the wife just last week about the possibility. I haven't bought the PVR card yet but since I don't need Sage server I can start using it when I get it. Can't wait!
