Omnipro II fire alarm relay BRK RM4

I have existing First Alert fire alarms that I have always wanted to connect to my Omnipro ii. I bought a BRK RM4, which is a relay that is connected to an alarm that sends a n.o or n.c. signal to the alarm. Then I ran a wire from the relay to the alarm panel, and hooked it up. Set the zone to fire. Get a trouble message. I switched n.o. & n.c. No help. Set the smoke jumper to normal and smoke, no help. I guess that it has to be an actual fire alarm wired to the panel? If I set the zone as auxiliary I it works. But I want this to act like a fire alarm. What do I set the zone to?

Thanks.

Please let me know why? Right now if the fire alarm goes off and no one is home who knows about it? At least connected to the alarm I would be notified via Haiku. There is no feasible way to wire new alarms. So my options seem to be wireless replacement of alarms or the BRK RM4. The RM4 was $20. Each wireless alarm is $100.

For the life of me I can never figure out why people try to jury-rig relays and all this crazy stuff when so much is at stake, and these solutions probably won't even work if the power goes out.  Buy the CORRECT FIRE SENORS for your alarm panel and DO IT CORRECTLY.  The only other option is don't do it and live with that. Your really are not benefiting anyone with a half-baked solution.

Hmmm then how are you going to wire this smoke alarm relay to your alarm?  If you only have two wires, most panels can use two wire smoke alarms.  Things are starting to sound more "feasible."
