OmniPro II Versions

Besides the obvious, what are the differences between the OmniPro II's with 3 serial ports and the current ones that have 5?

Flash or no Flash. My current Omni Pro II has ROM based OS. Just purchased a new one which is flash upgradable.

From HAI Knowledge base:

How can I determine if my Omni II series controller has flash memory or not?

Answer: Flash memory controllers are distinctly different from non-flash controllers in the following:

Flash controllers have five (5) RS-232 connections in the upper left-hand corner of the controller.
Flash controllers do not have a ROM chip in position “U29†on the PCB – this socket will appear as unpopulated.
Flash controllers have two (2) jumpers labeled “JP10†and “JP15†located directly below the “U29†socket .

The new boards are physically different with 5 serial ports instead of 3, and the firmware is stored in flash memory rather than ROM chips. Mounting holes and all electrical connections are the same which makes drop in replacements or upgrades very easy.

Functionality the two board versions are the same. So an older board with a 3.4 ROM chip can control the same number of units and support the same types of lighting systems as a newer board with 3.4 firmware in flash memory.
