OP II setup issues

Starting to connect peripherals to my OP II panel, FW 3.12.  So far I've got UPB and my outdoor extended range temp and humidity sensors working.  However I can't seem to get the RC2000 thermostats and 33A00-4 consoles working.  The stats control HVAC fine, but don't talk to the panel.  The consoles just say "No Controller Data" and don't do anything.

I think I have them configured correctly in Dealer PC Access, but I could be wrong.  The wiring is pretty simple, so unless I've had stroke it should be correct.

FYI.  I don't have a battery installed yet, just 24VAC power.  Also the Status LED (D24) is flashing, maybe due to the lack of a battery?

Any advice would be appreciated.

Start with the consoles.  What color wires do you have connected to what?  How many consoles do you have?  If you have more than one, did you assign them different addresses?

Make sure you have configured each thermostat with unique address, and the system baud is set to 300

If the consoles power up and report "No Controller Data", at least the 12VDC wiring is correct.
Double check each console has a unique address.
Hold down "4" and the up arrow to get into the console config menu.

Double check the A and B wires are correct at both the controller and consoles.

Thanks for the replies guys.  There is only one thermostat and one console.

The stat has address 1 and is set to default settings: serial baud rate of 100, expansion baud rate of 1200.  I tried a serial baud rate of 300 at the stat, still no good.  When I send a command to set the cold or hot setpoint it does not change.  The stat wiring is correct: Output 8+ to green, ground to black, and input Zone 16+ to yellow.

Regarding the console.  I thought the two data wires were RS485, and therefore had no polarity.  I was wrong, they were backward .  The console is now working.

Any other thoughts on the thermostat?

Well, double check that the "Comm Jumper" is in place on the thermostat itself.  It's in the lower corner of the circuit board.

On the stat setup, make sure it's on Serial and not Day/Night, and it's at 100 baud.

If that's right, then verify via PC access that the thermostat is configured as an OmniStat and not some other type.  Make sure you didn't define zone 16 as a security zone.

If you still don't have any communication, then it might be time to call HAI.

Confirmed everything you said neillt.  Zone 16 is defined as "Auxiliary".  Kind of funny they don't have a thermostat option.

So there are no thermostat baud rate settings in PC access for the panel?  100 baud seems so low.

Nope, that's the magic of using zone inputs and outputs as a slow speed serial bus.

The only other thing I can think of is to do a factory reset on the t-stat.

Confirmed programing mode is set to none.  Tried a factory reset too.  Still no comms.

Think I'll need to contact my local retailer whom I bought all my HAI stuff from.

Finally got the RC2000 to talk to the panel.  It turns out that when connecting the thermostat to the OP II panel you MUST power off the panel before connecting the wires to the stat.  If you don't power the panel off there is an initialization or syncing process that does not happen and therefore no comms.

Chris at HAI had me step through the entire process and that's how we found it.  Hopefully this information helps others.  I've never heard of the need to do this.
