Panasonic HNP15 Video Recording Software

I am about to plunk down $265 for a copy of the Panasonic HNP15 software to support a bunch of Panasonic IP cams.

One thing that it does is convert the recorded video/audio to mpeg or wav files. I was looking at the "free" option of Zoneminder, but it still doesn't appear to support audio.

Before I make a mistake, anyone out there have another option I should look at in the same price range?

Thank you

how about milestone xprotect... could be more money depending on the camera but this software is one of the best

Thanks. I gave their site a quick look. The Basis+ product looks like the low end of their line and froogling that seems to be 2x to 4x the cost and it's not clear if that is comparable for 16 cam support or if that price only buys 4 cams worth. So while it may be slick, it might also be out of my budget point right now.

Thanks though!

Just to give a little background What brought me to xprotect two features... CPU usage and sync'd playback.

While running 9 cameras the CPU usage was very small. Some other programs I demo'd were running at 100% cpu with one or two cameras. The other key feature that I liked was that I could do replay of the 9 cameras at once keeping them in snyc. I used the software to watch a construction site were I was concerened about employees disapearing. A few products I demo'd would allow me to playback data from one camera at a time but not all my cameras in sync. I would be watching my guys on the 3rd floor where they were mostly working. One worker would go down the stairs. In order to see where he went, with some of the packages, I would need to make a mental note of the time and switch to the playback of a differnt camera and then adjust it to the same time.

CPU usage is always an issue but the second issue is less of an issue in a home based install. But yes xprotect is more money. I went for it mostly because of the sync'd playback.

I have a feeling that panasonic software is something else rebadged, maybe AXIS's software? If so you might want to see who has the cheaper price.

The $265 version... how many cameras is that? I am looking to help my brother set up something for a doggy daycare business and he is looking for something a little cheaper also.

My understanding is that the product supports up to 16 cameras. Of course YMMV based on the system it is installed on.

You could buy my slightly used WJ-ND300A recorder and forget about the whole software thing all together... :D

It's slightly more than the software though... :)

the miletone line requires you to use the default admin username for all of your cams so that kind of throws me off when i look at their line.
