PC Access3 can't connect to OmniPro IIe after new router

My cable company made me upgrade my cable modem. The old one had a built in router with wifi. It was in the basement and it didn't have a very strong signal, so I installed a separate wireless access point on the first floor. The new cable modem came with a separate router. I installed everything and ran the included setup program. I tried to change the network id and password to match what the old one was. Something changed because when I tried to connect to the basement wifi from my iphone it asked me for a password. I was expecting it to recognize it as the same old network and automatically connect.

All of my wifi devices (iphones, laptop) work fine on the first floor wifi. No hardware changes there. The wired desktops and TV also all have network connectivity and internet access.

The problem is that I can't get to my HAI OmniPro IIe using PC Access 3 on my laptop. I tried the wifi connection which worked fine before the modem/router upgrade and I also plugged a network cable into the laptop. Still no good. I also can't get to it from SnapLink Mobile on my iPhone. I tried both the wifi connection and also over my 3G network.

Any thoughts anyone?

Thanks in advance for the help.

One more thing. I had to juggle some power cords around so that everything would fit into the outlets and power strips so I may have briefly removed power from the OmniPro, but I wouldn't think that would be a problem. I'm sure the OminPro is working because I can see everything from my touch screen and the console. Also, the HAI control of my UPB lights is working.

Thanks again.

PC Access and Snaplink all use the IP address of the Omni.  First, at any PC make sure you can Ping the IP address of the Omni. You can goto the setup screen of a console to check your IP address. Go to a PC, bring up a command window, and type Ping xx.xx.xx.xx where x's are the IP address. Can it contact the panel?

The Omni uses a fixed IP address, but not every router uses the same IP address range or assigns the same IP address range.  For example, some routers use the address range 192.168.1.xx where other ones my use 192.168.0.xx  If these ranges are different, it will prevent you from accessing the panel.

You may want to open the setup from your new router and check the DHCP settings. Typically it will assign something like an IP address range from 192.168.0.50 to 250  Make sure the Omni is using an IP address with the first three digits matching, but where the fourth number is OUTSIDE that range, for example 192.168.0.40 for my example.

You most likely have an IP problem. If you need to change your IP address, you can do it at the console.

Port forwarding is not needed from inside your house, but if you want to access it remotely, then yes port forwarding is required, along with a way to track your external IP address, assuming its not fixed.

i have the exact same problem -

ip address matches ip address in PC Access
encryptoin key matches

if i attach OP-2 to my switch, on the house side of the router, i CANNOT ping the ip address from any computer ..

BUT, if i attach the OP-2 directly to the modem, on the internet side of the router, i can ping the IP address ...

on the motherboard, the left LED is solid... while the right LED blinks randomly ...

my subnet = 255.255.255.192 ... my ip range is from x.x.x.65 thru 125 and the OP-2 is x.x.x.90

it seems the HAI is not "seen" in the subnet, even though the IP address falls within the acceptable range ...

any help or advice? ... thanks in advance
