phone sieze on M1

Okay, so this is "trial by fire". I was hooking up my first two zones on the M1 board (water sensors) and accidently set off one of the zones. I have two problems:
1) the phone line was siezed, but I don't think it is dialing out
2) I had to shut the M1 down to gain control of my phone line again, but everytime I turn the M1 back on, the line is siezed again. What is the fastest way to cancel out the telephone dialer? I think I need to use a keypad because my RP won't remotely sinc up while the dialer is active.

Use the keypad to cancel the dialer. It is under System tests/Communicator/ Clear Pending Dialer Reports.

Thanks Sandpiper. I got it to cancel out. Now I see where that was listed in the M1 instruction book and I just missed seeing it. So, it looks like the problem I have is that the M1 is dialing out fine, but when the call is received at the other end, the M1 isn't reporting any incident. In addition, even when the phone is answered at the other end, the M1 will continue to dial out additional times. I rechecked all of my settings in the "telephone" folder of Elk RP and I believe I have all the right settings. Any ideas?

Thanks again.

It sounds like the M1 is set up for sending alarm signals, but is calling a number that cannot receive them. Can you give more detail on what you are trying to do? There are various settings in the M1 which need to be set up correctly depending on what the desired action is.

I think I can explain. I have installed the M1 in my vacation home. My goal is to start "simple" and build up my knowledge as I go. So to start I am utilizing two zones that have a GRI2600 water sensor on each one, one for under the dishwasher and one for the basement under the water heater. Pretty simple. My hope was to program the M1 to call out and notify me if either of those zones are activated by the water sensor. Under each of the zone inputs I have programmed the following:

Definition=Water Alarm
Type 1= Normally closed
Voice Description: Zone One Kitchen Water Leak

Under the Telephone Input I have two phones listed, my home phone and my neighbor's phone. For both phones, I have entered the following:

Type 0 = Always report to this number
Reporting format 1 = Contact ID
Dialing attempts 5
I have the number to dial and name listed correctly.
I have also checked the boxes titled "Area events, alarms, restorals and unbypasses" and "Global systems events"

Can you see anything wrong with my setup?

Thanks again.

do you have your reporting codes correct? are you using POTS or a VOIP telephone line? VOIP has been reported to have problems

Contact ID is for central station doing monitoring. Are you running a central station in your house and your neighbors house? If not, I can see why the M1 keeps trying over & over.
I think you want a totally different method if you are trying to dial a human and give an audio message, but I have never done that myself.

Yes. Contact ID is an alarm reporting format for the central station. Since a central station receiver is not at the phone numbers you are calling the reporting cannot complete. You need to use "voice message" reporting and a rule to implement it.

Under telephone setup do not use contact ID, use "voice message" instead.

Also write a rule to announce the message. You need something like this:

Whevever zone one becomes not secure
then dial telephone 1 and announce zone 1

Thanks again. I'll give that a try. I was actually wondering if the "voice message" option was the one I should have been using. Man, I wish there were ELK training opportunities other than in North Carolina. I am an electrician in upstate New York trying to learn this stuff and I feel like a "hands-on" session would do a lot of good. If anyone knows of someone in the Albany, NY area that provides training, please let me know. Thanks again Sandpiper.
