Plastic U channel trim

Okay, so after spending a lot of time googling and ebaying around, I am tired and need some help!

I built a large frame for my garage with cubby holes (lots of them). I used 3/4" plywood and its ready. Now I want to put some plastic edging on it beacuse I can see the cross section of the plywood from the front (I am not sure how to better explain it).

I am having a tough time finding it. I got the idea looking at some other shelves around the house. Its a U shaped plastic (very flimsy and thin) where the U just fits on the edge. Its primarily a decorative thing.

Does someone know of this product I am talking about?

I think most people would use thin solid-wood edging for the outside edges and make a frame to cover that; other options - check Rockler as they have a lot of stuff - saw this version but you'd need to route the groove:
http://www.rockler.com/product.cfm?page=1181&site=ROCKLER  They also have the iron-on edging as well

I can picture the C Channel you're talking about but didn't find a ton on a quick search.

Thanks W2P. So its just not me where I cant find anything in google search. I researched some more and I think I will try the iron on edgeband...very similar to what you have linked above.

Here is what I am thinking Wood Veneer , though I have no idea about the color. I stained my frame minwax american chestnut!

More than anything, I am just surprised that something thats used all over my house currently is just unavailable. My kitchen cabinets have them for the in shelf dividers in wood matching color, my laundry room closets have them in white color.

So what happened in last 20 years that these things completely disappeared? Did iron on edging became more popular?

Just curious!

Not sure about 3/4" but home depot have the 1/2" version in the drywall trim section. At least that was where I found it a few years ago.

Thanks for the info. Last time I was there, I was pointed to the lumbar section and all they had was the iron on edging and a metal L shaped trim. Nothing in plastic U shaped.

I will check out the drywall trim section! Would you happen to have a link to the HD website for the product you are talking about?

Yah I searched a bit but couldn't find anything. Closest thing was "vinyl j-trim" on homedepot.com. The piece I have is not j-trim though as both sides are the same (not one longer).

I found a piece that still had the tag. I might have got it from another home reno store here in Canada (Rona) as there is french on the label.

Mfg: Techniplast
Cap 1/2" Blanc 10
SKU: 7 73424 10421 9

So this thing is called a "cap".. that didn't help any in google searching.. :angry2:

Sorry guys! Got distracted by other less (!not) important things :-)

Following up on this now, I DID look at McMaster-Carr and the closest I came was

http://www.mcmaster.com/#trim-molding/=ocmz0p

I also found something at Grainger's but it will take a week to get it. Its not the correct width (I want 3/4" and its 0.6") and is grey in color(I want white).

Anyways, Not being able to find anything else, I placed the order today and it should show up in a week.

Might as well put in an order from McMaster-Carr and see which one I like ....
