Play Media on a remote PC in premise

Hi all,
 
I'm wondering if it is possible to have the premise server launch/execute a media player on a separate physical computer.
 
I have a 'media player' system that hosts my music and its tucked away in a closet with the rest of my audio equipment. Is there a method to have my premise system which is setup and installed on a different physical computer play my media files on the media host?
 
I hope the question makes sense. The premise server is unable due to distance, to play audio through my AV receiver but the pc in the closet is already setup to do this. I just want to be able to control it through premise.
 
Any thoughts?
