POE NVR to Wifi Extender - will it work ? Assistance required

Hope you might be able to help me out.
 
I have an independant small store with a very good internet service provided by a Netgear Wireless router which is located downstairs.
 
I live directly upstairs and am waiting for a delivery of a 4CH 720P POE NVR System & 4 x 720P Indoor / Outdoor HD IP Cameras Surveillance Cameras network cctv system...
 
I will install and locate the cameras at specific locations in and around the store and hook them directly via ethernet cables to the NVR which will situated upstairs.
My question relates to the POE componenet and if I was to purchase a Wifi extender with an ethernet port, will I be able to obtain the internet and power to the camera's from the Wifi Extender, which will also be connected to the NVR via an ethernet port. Rather than directly to the exsisting router downstairs, which will involve a very long ethernet cable up cavity walls and the like OR can I simply use the extender to get the internet and Power ?  Its simply a direct extension of it I guess - right ??

Wifi extender with an ethernet port

 
Typically this is a wireless access point powered by a POE cable.  There are also just wireless repeaters.
 
With the first one you would need a cable and it could be powered locally or via a POE connection.
 
Wireless repeaters are just that and would have to be powered locally.
 
I recently helped a friend (dentist) who lives above her office.  We did interconnect the office to the home above.  It was a bit of a pain to wire up but not too difficult.  It is a very old building. 
 
I found a "chase" of sorts between her home utility room and one office downstairs.

Are you asking if you can send POE over the wifi network?? Answer is no if that's what you want. POE is wired only.
Sounds like you are going to connect the wifi extender to the router... so why would you need POE from the wifi extender? It's just connecting the nvr to the router.
Not very clear why you want to "be able to obtain the internet and power to the camera's from the Wifi Extender"???
Sounds to me like what you want is a wifi bridge, not an extender,

The question is not relating to the POE over wifi network  - i understand that POE is Wired only - thankyou Frunple..
 
The question is more to identify if the Wifi extender/bridge/repeater (will be used to extend the exsisting wifi from the internet router downstairs) was to be plugged into the wall upstairs and have the four cameras connected directly to NVR, which in turn would be connected to the Wifi extender/repeater via ethernet cable. Would that scenario work ?
Therefore the power for the camera's would come from NVR  - is that how it would work ? Or does the Power have to come from the WIfi internet router downstairs ?

I think the answer is... it depends. Are you using true IP cameras? I ask that, because I've seen cameras utilize a RJ45 connector that aren't true network cameras, but rather utilize a proprietary signal over the cable.
 
I have a friend who has the setup below:
Cameras <--analog--> DVR <---Ethernet---> WiFi Bridge <---WiFi---> WiFi Bridge <---Ethernet---> Home LAN
 
I think this is along the lines of what you are looking to do. In the above case, he did this because it was near impossible to run cables between the back portion of his home (where 4 cameras are located) and the front portion of the home were the main networking components are (cable modem, router, etc). Having said that, I'd prefer to place the NVR as close to the cameras as possible.

Yes this will work. You have to have the wireless access point in bridge mode. The LAN point in the access point can be connected to the wan port of the NVR to connect to the router wirelessly. Need to make sure your DHCP settings are turned off on the bridged mode access point.

Well, you do now anyway.

The power is ONLY coming from the NVR. The router downstairs does not provide power.
Plug the cameras into the NVR, they are powered by POE. Plug a bridge into the NVR (if you can, you say you have a 4 port NVR with 4 cameras.), then set the bridge to connect to your wifi network and you're done.
