Powering Aprilaire Distro panel

Unfortunately, I am unable to power my 8870's using the Tstat wire so I had to go the 8818 route. Waiting a week, it finally came today only to find out there was no power supply for it. My question is, do I need the 8027 24V transformer or can I run it off something else (Elk?) or can I buy one elsewhere (so I don't have to wait a week for delivery)?

Thanks
Eric

With six zones to wire up I started with the 8818 and am happy I did. It made a lot easier to debug a couple of minor problems I had with the communications wiring. To answer your question though, I'd suggest the 24vac transformer from Elk. The problem with the Aprilaire transformer is that it has an internal fuse that cannot be replaced. Just one slip-up with a crossed wire and you'll find yourself in the market for a new transformer. The Elk transformer will reset itself after short and also has an led power indicator.
