I've just starting playing around with Premise and have found it quite enjoyable to discover its functions and capabilities. I have yet to skim the surface and envision many more hours to be lost playing with this thing. I find the help guides within the app to be really good for a true newbie DYI'r like myself along with the old premise forum, google and of course, the people on the board. I'm not a programmer and never realized there was a thing called VBscript but can be resourceful enough to figure some things out. I am sure that I will have many more questions and requests.

With that said, I definitely want to help contribute even with the limited skills I have. As such, I will try to provide some tidbits which may be common knowledge to you all but might be helpful for those new to premise and are as green as I am. I hope that other chime in.

acalbear, your participation and contributions are greatly appreciated!

I discovered Premise in January 2008 and I was equally impressed by its capabilities. After using MisterHouse for over two years, and learning a fair of bit of Perl in the process, I wanted something with better documentation, runs as a Windows service, has a cleaner architecture, an active user-community, and costs the same amount (free). Premise fit the bill ... well, except for the fact that the user-community's membership was inactive (with a few notable exceptions and you folks know who you are).

I'm hoping the change of venue (to Cocoontech) will play a role in reviving interest in this great product. I hope the old hands who contributed to the original forum and its Yahoo successor, will return to share their knowledge and experience with newbies like me.
