Problem posting images

I tried to post a jpeg image to a personal message here and it does not appear in the message.I'm not talking about posting to the forum, this is in personal messaging. It does appear in the message preview but when I send the message it disappears. there is no longer a paper-clip icon that used to attach images so i click-hold and drag the image to the browser.
 
Is it just me? Am I doing something wrong?

Lordy, I hope we're not getting caught up in the same forum editing nonsense I'm seeing on some other sites.  A few places have updated and their editors are completely FUBAR.

I am also getting frequent captcha "I'm not a robot" sevurity checks. I do sometimes have VPN running so that could be causing it.

Here it may be related to a limit of messages...seeing here that I was over 500 messages, something about using more than 100% of my storage.  I deleted about 50 messages and it seems to work now....

The authentication thing with the pictures has never worked here on the forum from day 1. 
 
I do see this come up with image links or http links but not all of the time.
 
That is one issue and the other one is that my messages with pictures are filling up my quota.
