Quick ELK serial expander question

I don't know about the serial port, but here are some other options for power:

1) If you wire your expanders normally with cat5/6, there will be 1 extra pair of wires. 1 pair for power, one pair for data A/B and one pair for data A/B return. The 4th pair is unused. If you use the data bus hub this pair is easily accessible. Why not send power to the expander this way.

2) Hijack the data bus power supply. Each expander draws power from the power supply. Probably NOT a good idea for much of a current draw, I'd rather keep the data bus power separate. If anything goes wrong with the data bus, BAD things happen.

3) Grab an expander and check the pins. You can see if any voltage is available at DTR(usually pin 4), but only ELK can tell you if their chipset can provide power(assuming there is some voltage somewhere). I guess you can grab power from other pins, but they are going to be intermittently powered depending on the data being sent/received.

I need to know if the RS232 port on the serial expander provides *RS232* spec power to whatever device I plug into it. DTR and RTS normally supply around +12v.

I have a device that I am going to be plugging in that takes its power from the RS232 port.

I have not bought my first M!XSP yet, but this is from the M1XSP manual, page 31.

Other Jumper Settings
JP1 Used to engage a 120 Ohm resistor for terminating the M1 RS-485 Data Bus. See M1 Data bus wiring instructions before use.
JP2 Used to engage a 120 Ohm resistor for terminating the 'Outbound' (External) RS-485 Data Bus if required by other manufacturer.
JP3 Selects either RS-232 or RS-485 format communications on the 'Outbound' connections. Jumper Left = RS-232, Jumper Right = RS-485
JP4 Not used
JP5 Used to supply +12V to pin 4 (DTR) of the DB9 Female connector for certain modes. This jumper can typically be left on always.

I did not see a maximum current, but since this draws from the data bus, you would be limited at most to 1.25A shared between all expanders.
