Recessed Contact Sensor Issues

Any suggestions on how to fix this or make it work? After installing many recessed door and window contact sensors, two of them do not work. The sliding glass door in my kitchen apparently when I recessed the sensor, it was actually too far from the wired contact side. I was thinking about mounting a surface mount contact over the hole I drilled and still using the recessed piece on the wired side. Will this work or any other ideas? The other one was a window where I must have miss aligned the two pieces not by much. I don't think I can redrill without moving both pieces or using the same idea from above. Although I am not sure I would have the clearance in the window track. I am open to all suggestions.

Thanks in advance,
Mike

I think you are on the right track either surface mount the magnet if you have room, or a rare earth magnet may make the gap.

As mentioned try a rare earth / high gap magnet first, you may have to buy another switch too.

I gotta ask though... Where did you recess the magnet on a slider glass door? I always use surface magnets.

Ditto the surface mounted magnets. I needed to have two stuck onto the door in order for it to register. Looks kinda weird, but then the door is shut 99% of the time.

I had hoped my sliding doors would be a tighter fit than that suggests!

Unfortunately, right between the two sheets of glass. I guess I did not know better and ruined the seal or something. Although made it through the winter and did not notice any moisture in between the glass.
