Okay, I had to set "Option 2" in the wireless setup in the ELKRP software. I don't know what Option 2 is but now it gets the tamper reset from the units.

Sometimes the smallest things take hours to figure out. At least you are learning a lot and hopefully enjoying setting up your system.

I have the same issue on two brand new sensors. Setting Option 2 does not fix the issue however. Any thoughts?

Are these glass breaks?
In the case of glass breaks, the M1XRF manual, on its list p8, it CLEARLY says ">OPTIONS - WZnxxx 04 (Option 2) MUST be set to YES"

Depending on your sensor, you should have a look at that page of the manual.
