If I were to say "wifi" I'd be meaning IEEE 802.11, and nothing else. Or did you mean to say "wireless" and are open to various protocols?
Moreover, what is "best" depends on the constraints one has to work with. To name a few... What effects are you trying to achieve? What equipment do you already have? What's your budget? How much technical know-how can the project require from you?
