Security system for boat - Need advice

Looking for some advice here. Plenty of experience with residential automation and security systems, but I've run up against a challenge with a boat.

I need a security system with:
- Wireless motion sensors
- Wireless door sensors
- Water sensor
- Cellular interface
- Status from phone app (iPhone)
- Cam integration a plus but this can be handled separately

There is WiFi available and a hardwired LAN on the boat, however there is no way to setup port forwarding/NAT through the connection. This has been the challenge. I need to access the system from a phone via cellular or WiFi connection and have it work without any specific network setup (port forwarding/passthru's etc..).

Any suggestions here?

I did a quick search and I think that Honeywell Total Connect uses port 80 and accesses your system using a web browser. I'll bet there are others too. I would google words like web browser security control port 80 etc etc

I'm just curious....Can you use a home security and automation system in a boat? What is the power source? Are you limited to 12 volt systems?

Mike.

Use an ISY994i A system with Insteon modules, provided you have 120v 60Hz power.  Have the ISY text message and email you for every event you desire.

External access is available on it but if that is blocked this could be a reasonable alternative.

All the modules are available for MS and door opening etc.. even water leak detection. Automatic, mood, flashing, warning  lighting can be a side effect.

Thanks for the suggestions guys. It appears a hardware solution such as 2gig or Honeywell tied to alarm.com for remote access may be the most ideal solution.

Mike - 120vac and 12vdc power is available. The 12vdc is uninterrupted and the 120vac is available while at dock and via generator when not. The preferred way to run a 24vac security panel would be by using a 12vdc to 24vac power inverter. That way you have no power interruptions while switching from shore power to generator.

FYI - My Elk system runs on 12vdc backup battery and there are probably others.

Mike.

That is correct, depending on the behavior of the panel when it loses main power. Some will display/send alerts when they switch from main power to backup power which can be very annoying when it happens every time you switch power sources. Using the 12VDC to 24VAC inverter allows you to get stable power for the main and still have a self contained 12V backup if something fails on the boats power system.
