Sirens

Ok so I have an M1G and want to hook up external sirens. I plan on putting the siren in the eave inside the attic over the garage. I have a data bus hub inside the attic controlling that side of the house. If im reading everything correctly, it would probably be easiest to hook up a relay board controlled by the DBH. I would then use an external power supply to run the sirens. From there I would create a rule that says when alarm is active, then turn on output x, which would then turn on the sirens. Is this correct? Is there an easier, or better way to do this?

If you have a typical high amperage siren, that would probably be the best way. If you wanted to save some $ you could use a few of the piezo screamers which draw very little current and you can hook them to Output3. Not only are the sirens themselves alot cheaper but you would save on the cost of relays and power supply. Something like these. The MPI-47 comes in several form factors.

You might want to consider getting a power supply with battery backup. Otherwise, your siren will not work if there is a power outage.

The issue is, is that the main controller for my system is located in the basement, and I already patched up the walls where i ran the original wire from the garage door to the controller. Although, I guess I could use an extra pair to run the siren, as the garage dooe contact wire is in the same location as where I want to put the siren.

my only real $.02 - having two separate sirens going off at the same time - they can get out of sync. If you stick with speakers off output 1 (or two - whichever is for the outdoor siren) - you can compensate for resistance changes, and all your speakers/sirens inside and out will be playing totally in sync... hopefully not something that'll go often, but it'll carry much further, much clearer, if it's all in sync.
