Hello, I've had my omni pro 2 working fine with snaplink for almost 5 years now. Last month snaplink started giving me an "unknown host error" message and wont connect anymore. Any Ideas on hat the problem could be?
Snaplink has to be accessing the IP of the panel whether running locally or remotely.
Remotely (on WAN) you have to open the port that Snaplink uses on the firewall.
Personally run Snaplink on Android or Windows tablet via an OpenVPN client connecting to an OpenVPN server on my PFSense firewall.
I do not open up any ports on the PFSense Firewall these days and have never used an ISP SOHO provided combo firewall since the beginning of cable provided internet in the late 1990's.
Thanks for the reply. Tried this and called my provider. I was told to see if my system ran on dual IPv4 IPv6 and to disable the IPv6 or set as IPv4 preferred. Is there a way to do this?
The ISP router/modem by default would be doing IPv6 and IPv4 today. Typically you can disable IPv6 on the ISP router / modem.
The OmniPro 2 panel network port is very old technology and does not do IP6 and would only be an IP v4 on your LAN.
Have you upgraded your ISP router / modem?
Typically the ISP routers are default set to a certain IP and subnet.
The OmniPro IP is an IP static configuration on the panel. If the IP of the OmniPro panel isn't in the subnet of the ISP router then you will not be able to access the panel via ethernet.
Check the LAN subnet IP. Please post:
1 - LAN IP of router or gateway IP
2 - LAN subnet of router
Using a console and installer code check the IP configuration of the OmniPro 2 panel and post it here.
1 - press menu button
2 - press 9 and scroll to setup
3 - enter installer code - default is 1111
4 - press 6 misc
5 - scroll to IP of panel
I have not upgraded any equipment but when i contacted my provider they did say they did an update to my system but that the update would not have effected anything.
inside your home visit here to know your current IP (you can using this IP to connect to system from outside. if success check your host, if not check firewall, port forwarding...): https://whatismyipaddress.com
