split system AC units

Anyone had any experience interfacing split system AC units with HAI?

Most of these single room split system AC units come with their own thermostats. Fujistsu, Daikin, Mitsubishi, Toshiba, LG all seem to fall into the same category.

The manufacturers offer wired or wireless controllers, but the wired controllers don't seem to be anything I could swap out for an omnistat or RCA unit

Anyone had success linking these to their house?

I'm doing a new build with 7 of these split systems, and I'd like to have some logic so that when I arm my alarm system, they all turn off instead of having to go to check each room before I leave.

No idea what kind of thermostat they use, but I will assume from your description it is some proprietary setup.

Options that come to mind include:
1) A relay that shuts off power to the whole thing. This could be hard wired or use power line controller like Insteon.
2) If the remote it uses is IR, then programming a global cache or similar device to send IR "off" command to it. This would require pulling a wire from the GC unit to each room with an AC unit and shining the IR diode at the receiver on the unit. It also requires that you have a software controller that can send IP commands to the GC based on your alarm status. In my house, it would by my Elk sending an Insteon command to a switch or kpl button that would be monitored by a program that would then send the GC commands. I currently do this exact thing but instead of turning off an AC unit, it turns off all the TV's and Stereo stuff.

I have a zoned system.
The thermostats are wired into a central zone controller.
The Omni talks to the thermostats and the thermostats talk to the controller, which controlls the HVAC system.

I'm not familiar with the split systems.
Is each system it's own independent (smaller) unit?
If the Omni stats will talk to the units, then they should work independently from one another but be controlled or overidden by the Omni.

Looking to integrate Mitsubishi Ductlist Minisplit heatpump system Models: MSZ-GE12NA-8 and MSZ-GE15NA-8.
 
Also have a HRV American Aldes HRV155SRD
 
Anyone worked with these units? (HAI or other?)

Check the coolmaster product and see if it covers the models you are interested in.
 
its got a serial interface so that may or may not work for you.
