I started that thread. I decided to use the 4-state wiring feature of the ELK M1. If you don't have an M1, I don't know if other vendors support that sort of thing. Basically, if your motion sensors are inside the house and you always arm when you are away, you probably don't need it. But if you're using motion detectors outside for perimeter alerting, you should hook them up.
You can always wire them in series back at the panel to a single 24hr zone so you're not burning an extra zone for each one, but if something goes wrong, it's going to increase the time it takes to troubleshoot or figure out which sensor has been messed with.
