The End is Near for HomeSeer 1.7x

I don't see a problem either as long as we can talk about HomeSeer in all the CQC and ML threads ;)

As far as this thread getting off topic... I really blame myself. I sort of saw this coming and should have immediately created a new thread. Sorry all! :) Next time I will be a little more diligent in my mod responsibilities and immediately create a new thread to try to keep these discussions on topic. ;)

As for now, I'll just let this go as it's a real painstaking process to selectively take out replies to a thread (vs. the entire thread).

BSR... just rename the topic

"The End is Near for Homeseer 1.7x.... oh what are we to use now??"

That should cover all the posts so far....

Well, since it's doomed anyway now... where is the list of built in drivers for MainLobby? I was interested in what devices they support, since David said they supported around a hundred also.

OK, though many of those are not device interfaces, they are more like 'plugins' to provide some functionality. We have a few of those types of also, like system wide variables and timers which are kind of like plugins just implemented via the driver mechanism. But almost all of ours are actual device/program drivers.

MusicLobby3 is ready. Just waiting on me creating docs for it, that are in process. Hopefully after this weekend it will be availble for purchase.

thanx!

Nice! Looking forward to all the ancillary MainXXX programs getting up-to-date.

Wow did this thread cool off.. lol

So David when do you plan on dumping Homeseer now that ML3 can handle HA functions??

John

John, I still use Homeseer for things that aren't incorporated in MainLobby today.
Tom Caldwell's Shopping script w/ bar code integration
Local Movies / Theater showing
A few more things that aren't coming to mind.
It's all working super reliably and it's all fun. Why change?

True, I have moved most to MLServer 3, but that's what I need to do to test MainLobby 3 suite. Real world testing.

The nice thing is there aren't too many things I can think of that aren't possible with MainLobby and Homeseer, especially in combo.

I have been reading this whols thing and it has made for nice reading. I have to agree with David that I like the combo of my Homeseer/Mainlobby/Ocelot/Elk set up. I can do just bout anything I need to with all of these.

I just had a "real life" example of why the updater for HomeSeer 1.7 needs to be maintained.

I just found out that the Hauppauge plugin supports the Ninja pan and tilt device via web pages. This is great information and I never would have found it out if it were not for THIS recent HomeSeer forum post. (I can't believe I missed that one after all these years. B) )

So, lets say I wanted to investigate the Hauppauge plugin and this was post 2006. Would I be able to contact HomeSeer Technologies and request access to that plugin AND be able to purchase it after I tested it (assuming I could still get a valid trial code)?
