Thermostat for M1

I am looking for a thermostat to work with my M1. Do I need to buy one that has zwave or should I buy one of the hai thermostats that are compatible with the M1? This is for a new construction.

I'd go with the HAI OmniStat2 serially attached to the M1.

There are compatible Z-Wave ones, but serial has been around longer and is rock solid.

AprilAire, RCS and HAI are the main ones although RCS has been phasing out a lot of those. I consider HAI the best one available personally.

One problem to note if you use Celsius as your measurement unit. The Elk cannot remotely set or display all possible Celsius values on the HAI OmniStat. i.e. the thermostat can do 21, 21.5, 22, 22.5, 23, etc, but the Elk cannot do some values i.e. 21, 21.5, 22, 23.5, 24, etc. It is a limitation of Elk's algorithm.

I've been very happy with my switch to RCS TZ45 Zwave thermostats. They are responsive; nice looking and help extend my zwave network (which is yet to have any other nodes)
