Time based contact closure

I was hoping someone could point me in the direction of a device that keeps time and at 10 PM closes a contact and at 7 or 8 am it would open the contact? I am hoping to find something not too expensive but any ideas would be great appreciated!

I wonder how a regular light timer works, and whether that could work.

I would follow IVB's lead and consider a simple light timer, since they are cheap.

You could hack the thing and disconnect the internal contacts from the 110VAC and use the contacts for your own use.

Or, you could get a wall wart and matching relay (probably 12 VDC), then use the relay contacts. this avoid all the high voltage hacking.

Home Depot had a digital timer that should work fine with a hack or wall wart and matching relay. I bought one before, but it's not coming up on their web site now.

Don't know exactly what your you're doing with it but if you are looking for a simple dry contect closure I have used this model before:
