To wifi thermostat or not?

Honeywell has one as well. Available at home depot. Looks pretty slick but the deal killer for me is that I believe you must use their portal. i.e. no local wifi access without internet. Or am i wrong? Anyone have one?

I'm not positive, but I don't think you can communicate with that thermostat 'directly'. I.E. you need to log into their server.

I'm not sure we are speaking of the same problem. What I meant was I thought you could not use this over a local network, i.e. you HAD to be connected to the Internet and control this from an outside server.
