TPMS (Tire Pressure Monitoring System)

I have OEM TPMS and mine doesn't leak. It also was really nice to have when I came back from a trip and had a slow leak due to a puncture, the tire was pretty flat in the parking garage but it was late at night and I didn't notice until I saw the warning light. No experience with aftermarket though

Well - I suppose there is a reason it has been mandatory on all new (US) cars for a while now. (Is that right? or did I make that up...) It's a good idea and for the most part it works.

I can deal with a false alarm every once in a while for the peace of mind - savings on fuel if they are properly inflated, etc.

Dan,

Funny. Not an issue.

There is a "story" behind the animation on the auto display. One day "wife" of neighbor was driving said car. She called me as she was puzzled by the animation she saw. She rarely ever drives the car. She asked me to look at it and I did. It was a sort of "cartoon" animation depicting the need for oil in the vehicle. She didn't understand what the animation was telling her. I guess it could have been cryptic if you had never seen anything like this before.

Just recently added a backup camera to the truck. Very plug n play. Even has a distance overlay on the video.

Factory TPMS in our Nissan works great - only ever had it turn on once, and it was right - the tire was low but we couldn't really tell looking at it. Problem was, we had no idea what the icon was telling us, so wife drove on it for a day until I looked it up in the manual!

That's funny. Wife's Maxima has had all sensors replaced and receiver. Still gets false light all the time when it's cold. We check the tire pressure and have brought it into the dealer almost as SOON as the light comes on when we're able and they've verified that the pressure is OK. They tell us they're "sensitive".

My associates Altima acts the same way as does his wife's Mazda.

Hate the bloody things..

Oh well :)

Could also be a different definition of cold - here it doesn't ever get down to freezing temps. How cold does it have to be for you to see problems?

We did have frost here last week.

My TPMS indicator came on around the same time we had frost. Saturday checked the tire pressures and found them to be just fine. +/- 1-2 pounds on one tire maybe.

The TPMS indicator shut off after I checked the tires. Its really nothing but an Illuminated button with a picture of a tire on it. I can reset when the SUV is in park by holding the button down for about 30 seconds. If there is an issue with a tire; it goes right back on. Not sure how distracting it would be to see the four tires pressure. Probably not too much after a bit.
