Troubles with ACT CR234 X10 repeater/coupler

Hi,

My ACT CR234 has been working great for few years, but it's starting to give me errors in the last few days. Basically if there's any X10 signals, I see the RECEIVE light to go RED, but nothing for TRANSMIT, then I get the ERROR light instead. Power and Ready are both lighted up.

Do I have a problem with the repeater itself or something else? The coupler is not blinking crazy and it seems to see the incoming signals, just can't re-transmit the signals.

This sucks as a lot of light switches don't work!

Any troubleshooting tips would be greatly appreciated.

I assume you've tried cycling the power to the unit.....

Did you check the two fuses on the PC Board?
I know one supplies power and one phase to the unit. If that one was blown it would be dead.
The other is used for the coupling to the other phase.
I believe there is a spare fuse plugged into the board but it maybe the higher current one used to power the unit.

I had one fail and do strange things.
I ended up replacing it. With a CR134 that was set to split phase as it could also do three phase.

I am now using an XTB-IIR from JV Engineering.

Argh, I opened the box and couldn't find any fuses, found out it's not the normal ones I'd expect! I didn't go any further but I suppose I have to take the whole board apart and check the fuse. If it's bad though, will have to solder a replacement?

Thanks

If they are the small round ones. They plug into the board. In two real small female jacks.
Try gently pulling in case they decided to solder them at one point.

Thank you, I just assumed they were solder together. Will try to gentle pull them out tonight to see. Hopefully just the fuse!

Thanks again

Not sure what happened today, but it started to work all of a sudden. I was ready to flip the breaker to check out the fuse, just as I was walking down to the basement, I turned on the lights in the basement and volia, the LED flickers on the ACT as it normally should.

Not sure what happened but sure nothing was changed except I was checking out the coupler last night but it wasn't working then when I put it all back in. I guess I know what to look for next time if it goes crazy again.

Thank you guys for your suggestions, much appreciated.
