TS07 questions

I am thinking of replacing my main keypad by a TS07, and I have a few Qs related to that:

a) Is the TS07 just as easy to use to arm/disarm the security system as a keypad? Is it possible to get "lost" in a submenu and not being able to easily get to the security menu (or: is it possible to force the panel to the security menu when the house is armed)?

<_< Does the security tab of the TS07 function exactly like a regular keypad (including what's displayed, the menus...). There doesn't seem to be an Elk key on the TS07 security tab. How are these functions accessed?

;) Does the microphone/speaker of the TS07 fully replace the regular (output1 and two-way)? i.e. are all chime / spoken announcements also output by the TS07? Does the two-way function with the Central Office connection? If the answer is no, I assume oine can always use the other 2 pairs of the Cat5 for speaker/mic?

c) Are there other bezel colors / is it easy to repaint the white bezel or to have another color bezel made?

d) if one day I decide to go fancy and use CQC or MainLobby, can the TS07 be reused 100% for these?

Thanks in advance.

I've only been playing with a TS07 for about a month now, but I'll give your questions a try. Mine is a standard touchscreen with no major modifications. It is just as easy to arm/disarm the system as a keypad. You can always get back to the security screen just by pressing the Security tab on the left side of the screen. There is no keypad programming like a regular keypad. The TS07 mimics a keypad that you assign to it. You either have to program from a real keypad or from ELKRP. I haven't used the chime feature yet but I assume it just mimics the keypad also. No voice announcements. There are other threads regarding using unused Cat5 wires for Output 1 speaker use. I think you can get any bezel color you want from ELK as long as it's white. It shouldn't be too hard to find a paint that will stick to the plastic. It doesn't look too difficult to make one out of wood. I hope your last question regarding using the TS07 for CQC or Mainlobby is true, I'm not sure.

The TS07 can be used as a client for CQC but since it runs CE you will have to use the CQC DNV (Dot Net Viewer). That will work fine, but not all functions are supported by the DNV which may have an impact on how 'fancy' your interface can be. A huge issue is the DNV not supporting alpha transparency, so you will have to do your own blending of graphics for really nice effects.

Depends what you mean by 'do it all'. In the Windows world on the high end you have the all in one Nobu TS/PC which is nice but VERY expensive. There are also other in wall pc/touch screens. Many people here just use a TS panel like an ELO and connect it to a pc, either a laptop, some small form factor or now even micro itx's. You usuall need the full Windows O/S to get all the functionality.
