TTS with OP II and Hi-Fi2

Would someone please give me a quick, "for-dummies" overview of how to add TTS with an OPII and a Hi-Fi2 setup? I've been browsing for days, and it appears that this is possible, but I can't seem to figure out how. Do I need any external software for this?

I think what I'd like to do is pretty simple. For example, when any door opens, play a greeting, or just a sound. Also, it'd be nice to play a message at a pre-set day/time (e.g. to remind me to take out the trash once a week).

Thanks!

If you want to use the internal voice of the HAI, you'll need the two-way voice module.
The audio output from that will be one of the inputs into the HIFI board.

To announce zones opening, you'll have to create a message for each zone you want announced and program rules for each one.
The voices attached to the zones themselves are only used during alarms or over the phone interface.

If you want to do TTS for other things, you'll need a software package. Maybe Haiku?
