Vista 20p and x-10

I have a fully functioning vista 20p and want to turn lights on etc when armed disarmed door opens whatever. The x-10 transformer for use with the 20p (1361x10) is no longer made. They do still make a transformer for the lynx panel but it is only 9v. My question is this. Can I use honeywell part #10145x10 9VAC to supply the x-10 to the powerline. In other words I would have two transformers connected to the panel one two wire that supplies D/C to the panel/battery and the other only connected with the 3 wires needed to inject x-10 into the powerline. D/C out on the 10145x10 9VAC would be left without wire only the data com and sync terminals would be wired.
Seems like it should work to me. Anyone know before I start drilling holes in the walls to feed wire to a second transformer?

I don't have an answer for you but I used that combination a long time ago. I will tell you it wasn't the most reliable combination I have seen.  In any case, why don't you keep checking eBay?  Those transformers were pretty popular, and I would think they go for sale now-and-then.  You also may want to try a local alarm installer. You could possibly get a used one from a system they have taken out.

Interesting, as I have used x-10 for some time and am considering a cheap 20-p since I just can't do an Elk any time soon.

on a related note is there a reciever that picks up Ademco 5800 wireless sensos signals. Seems like they are flying through the house I should be able to pick them up with both the honeywell RF reciever and an adapter on thye PC connected to homeseer, HCA or some other software.

No 3rd party receiver for Honeywell 5800 series RF I know of.

There used to be a module that X10 made that would take the SYNC and COM (and the 3rd wire) from the header and allow it to connect to a separate wall wart to allow X10 without the 4300 or the 13XXXX transformer.

If you're not against a different technology you can get the Tuxedo keypad and run Zwave within reason, same with the separate Zwave (albeit limited) module that Honeywell makes.

already pretty deep into insteon. The need to trigger scenes from the saecurity panel isn't a must just thought it would be nice. I'm going to hook it up and see what happens. worst case...... I burn the house down, best case i get scenes for $13!

Good luck.  Getting it to work even when you have the correct transformer can be a challenge.

Yes, this works.  I fixed your D/C references, but I know what you meant. ;)

thanks for the confirmation. I wired it up and the house didn't burn down. Works fine as long as the stereo isn't on... I have 3 huge class A amps that are causing me problems but other than that and a little trouble programming the 20p it works well.

I wanted to go with elk but the cost would have been 3 x as much plus the elk module for my isy this is much cheaper and so far is meeting my needs.

Thanks all.

I haven't used it in years, but I remember it did some funky things, depending what you triggered it on.  Also, every now-and-then it would lockup, and stop transmitting, where I had to unplug it and plug it in again.

so far so good. no lock ups or strange behavior other than the stereo. I anticipate a filterlinc will take care of that. I will report back in a month or 2

Thanks again, home automation rules!!!!!!!!!
