I am planning to use voice commands to control Premise. Has anyone used? Which voice recognition software can I use that works well and with Premise? Any experience and advice would be greatly appreciated.
Trying to find the SpeechCommander. No luck. I realize it is 5-year old thread, but maybe someone knows what happened to it? Maybe there is a different speech recognition option for Premise these days?
I keep wondering what happened to the project and why it was removed from the Downloads section,
The reason I am trying out the Premise is the old StarGate board (which I inherited with the house) died. Surpisingly, it wasn't configured much for anything, although I found an $8000 labor receipt from the Home Automation company. Things like microphones. HVACs, Caddx NX-8E security, pool equipment interface were all there, but not really connected. I am pretty much building everything up from scratch myself.
I tried the LinuxMCE first but gave up on it pretty quickly. It tried too hard to be the Media Center and the Home Automation takes the second seat. I have had a good deal of success with Premise so far.
My next challenge is configuring the Text-to-speech and Voice Command. The house is huge and there are four in-wall microphones in different areas. I want to be able to discern which microphone produce the command, so that I could target the voice response to that same area. It looks as if I need a sound card with mutiple microphone inputs and even then I am not sure if Windows XP will allow to have multiple sound devices.
Look at sound cards meant for professional use, like recording. The M-Audio 1010LT for instance, has multiple inputs. There are many others. Not sure if you can assign Premise to listen to the different inputs for different things (zones) though.
Also, be sure to post your Premise questions in the Premise forum.
