VRC0P and Elk M1 - Am I doomed?

Hi, based on this email thread, I am surprised that things may not of changed in a few years. Suggestions?
 
I have:
 
Leviton DZMX1-1LZ
Linear WD500Z-1
 
Leviton VRUSB-1US Vizia RF + Installer tool USB (latest software checked)
Leviton VRC0P-1LW Vizia RF + RS232 interface
Elk M1XSLZW
 
ELK MG1 firmware 5.3.0 with boot 3.3.6
RP2 2.0.24
 
I can do a link test between all combinations of the two controllers and the two switches, all check 100% after adding them.
Just can't do the association with either the two switches.  I moved the  secondary controller (VRC0P) two feet away from the switches to assure a good test signal.  no luck. I plan to stay with Leviton, so not sure why it can't be associated.

It may help if you disconnect VRC0P from Elk while making the assiciations

Thanks.  I have not hooked it up yet to The Elk.  Was trying to get it working as a z-wave network first.

How do you know the associations did not work? The Leviton software is not very robust. Can you try hooking the SIM to Elk and see if the status is updated when you operate the switches?
